FROM THE EARTH TO THE MOON
‘To Shiver the Sky’ is an oratorio about the history of flight, and mankind's quest to conquer the heavens. Told through the words of 11 of our greatest astronomers, inventors, visionaries and pilots, it charts our relentless need to explore the universe, defy our earthly bonds, reach for the face of God, and ultimately claim our place among the stars. It's sung in a panoply of languages: English, Latin, Italian, German, French, Polish, Russian, and Sanskrit.

A BRIEF HISTORY OF CLASSICAL MUSIC
One of the more unique features of 'To Shiver the Sky' lies in its orchestration; to parallel the march of aviation progress across the centuries, the musical language similarly evolves through the many eras of classical music: ranging from medieval to classical, impressionist to romantic, modern to post-classical.
Christopher funded the album through a Kickstarter campaign designed to bring his fans closer to the creative process. The campaign raised $221,415, shattering the all-time record as the highest-funded classical music Kickstarter campaign ever.

REVIEWS
It's just beyond anything I expected… the concept of 'To Shiver the Sky' is just an epic journey. It's humanity's ambitions to meet the heavens and beyond.
The American composer Christopher Tin is one of today’s most innovative and influential composers... It's such a great piece of music. It's cinematic, and the music fits so perfectly for the oratorio.
A soaring classical work on the history of flight.
His settings are varied and engaging... Tin's albums successfully make the transition from video game music to full-fledged collections of compositions, and To Shiver the Sky perhaps goes even a step further: it is a choral-orchestral song cycle, taking the history of flight as a theme.
The opening 18 seconds of To Shiver The Sky are perfect: promising greatness and delivering over the next couple of minutes. Not only is ”Sogno di Volare” possibly the single strongest theme of Tin’s creations and the separate opening track magnificent, it’s used to great effect to cap off ”The Fall” and the poignant end of ”Oh, the Humanity”. The sky is shivering and so am I.
That finale "We Choose to Go to the Moon" is so powerful, and I have to tell you — and this is a compliment — it reminded me of a big Disney tune.
